The Ringling

This one’s a trip back into history mixed with a bid of modernity—the lavish legacy of entrepreneur John Ringling and his wife, Mable. Ringling started Ringling Bros World’s Greatest Shows and arguably shaped the future for modern circuses.

The place is also home to the State Art Museum of Florida, and the Ca’ d’Zan Mansion, Bayfront Gardens, the Art Library, two Circus Museums, and the Asolo Theater. The Museum offers free entry on Mondays only, and the grounds and the gardens nearby are free to visit.

Myakka River State Park

Feel like going for a hike while you enjoy nature’s blessings along the way? Myakka River State Park is your place to be. Make sure to keep some binoculars or a camera with a zoom lens on you; there’s a lot of wildlife in the area you’d want to get on film. There’s a variety of birds in the region as well.
